Going Wireless - Mac OS X

Steps 1-7 | Steps 8-12

Step 1

Click on the Apple in the menu bar, and select System Preferences.

In the System Preferences window, click Network.

In the Network window, select the AirPort network adapter. If the AirPort's status is "Off", as shown below, click the Turn AirPort On button. Ensure that "Ask to join new networks" is marked. This is a security measure that will prevent your computer from automatically connecting to potentially unsecure networks.

Step 4

After turning on your AirPort adapter, a window (shown below) may be displayed indicating that none of your preferred networks are available. If this is the case, skip to Step 5; otherwise, skip to Step 6.

View Wireless Networks

Step 5

As illustrated in the picture above, select WVU.ResNet from the list of available wireless networks, ensure that "Remember this network" is marked, and click Join. Continue with Step 7.

Step 6

Open the Network Name drop-down list, and select WVU.ResNet.

After selecting WVU.ResNet, click Apply to save your settings.
