Getting Connected
Netword Interface Card (NIC)
Nearly all recently manufactured computers include a network interface card (NIC), but some older machines or custom configurations may need a NIC installed. To determine whether or not you already have a NIC, please look for a connector that should have 8 pins (although some have four in which one pin is spaced away from the other three). The connector is wider than a phone cable, and there is usually only one on the computer.
If you do not see this connector, you will most likely need a network interface card installed in your machine. Please contact the Technology Support Center for assistance obtaining and installing a network card in your machine.
If you found your network interface card, you may now connect one end of your Ethernet patch cable to your computer as shown in the photo below.
Once you have made this connection, continue to the next step.
