ResNet
Welcome
ResNet is West Virginia University's residence hall network. It provides a connection to the Internet for all residents of University-owned residence halls.
This website has been designed to allow you to access information quickly and easily, skipping over sections
you do not need, or going back to ones that you've missed. Navigation is performed using the main navigation
frame located on the left. Clicking on any of the topics will display the related material in this frame.
Some sections include subsections, such as the steps for connecting to ResNet. When clicking on the link for
these sections, the left frame will expand to include the individual subsections. Some of the
links in the left frame are linked directly to WVU websites. Links marked with
denote links external to this

System Requirements
In order to connect to ResNet, your computer must meet or exceed the following requirements:
- Hardware - Intel Pentium III (or equivalent) processor running at 1.0GHz or higher, at least 512 MB of memory, a hard disk drive with at least 20 GB of storage, a 24X or better CD-ROM, a color display, a 10/100Mbps Ethernet adapter and an Ethernet patch cable.
- Operating System - Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (SP3), Microsoft Windows Vista (Business, Home Premium or Ultimate) Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Apple Macintosh OS X 10.4.3 or above. Students wishing to use Linux as their operating system may do so, but will receive limited support. Students should bring to campus all installation disks and CDs for the software on their computers.
- Security - Regardless of the operating system installed on your computer, be sure to install all security updates/patches available from the manufacturer. In addition, you must also install Internet security software (anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall) and keep it up-to-date.
